Press and hold the power button until the Light logo appears on your L16 screen.
Give it a moment to boot up.
Tap the arrow at the bottom of the screen to start.
You will then be walked through a series of settings to set your camera up.
Before you start shooting, make sure your L16 has the latest software.
We send over-the-air updates on a regular basis, so you may find one already waiting for you to install.
If you weren’t able to update during the setup process, let’s do that now. Come back here when you’re done.
Your L16’s software is built on an Android™ platform. That means the camera runs as an app, similar to what you would find on a smartphone.
There may be times when you’ll need to access the Android side of things.
Let’s try it now: Swipe down from the top of the touchscreen to reveal the Android menu icons on the right. Tap the circle to go to the home screen.
This is your camera’s home screen.
From here you can tap the camera icon 
to launch the camera app, or tap the gallery icon 
to open your photo gallery.
Pro tip: You can also access the apps menu by clicking the left arrow 
.
Before you start using your L16 extensively, we recommend giving it a full charge.
Now that your L16 is set up and updated to the latest software, you’re ready to start shooting!
Head to section two for a quick guide on how to take photos with the L16.
The L16 uses mirrors to position lenses based on where you focus. Because of this, it’s important to always focus before you shoot.
Let’s try it: Pick up your camera and half-press the shutter button to focus. A blue ring signals your camera is focused and ready to capture.
Pro tip: You can also tap (left) the touchscreen to move your focal point and focus.
With your camera focused, press down on the shutter button to take your first picture.
Pro tip: You can also use the on-screen shutter button (white button) to capture. Just be sure you tap to focus first!
Using your finger or thumb, slide up and down on the touchscreen to zoom in and out of the scene.
Let’s try zooming to 70mm. Notice the live preview changes slightly from 69mm to 70mm? That’s the L16 switching from a 28mm module to a 70mm module.
Pro tip: You can also flick your finger up or down to jump between prime zoom values: 28, 35, 70, and 150mm.
The L16’s live preview comes from only one of your camera’s 16 lenses.
To remind you not to cover any of the other lenses, the L16 is equipped with five sensors around the front. When you are blocking a lens, a message appears to let you know where the obstruction is coming from.
Let’s try it: Wrap your fingers around the left side of your camera. Do you see the reminder message?
Now that you’ve taken a photo, tap the square-shaped icon in the top right corner of the screen to open the gallery.
You should see a low-res preview of the last photo you captured, and you can swipe left to see more. To get back to the camera, tap the L16 icon 
in the top right corner.
Pro tip: You can also tap the collage icon 
in the top left corner to see all of your images sorted by date.
Only one of the L16's lenses is used to generate the thumbnails in your gallery. However, the L16 has the ability to process, or fuse together, five of the 10 or 11 images it captures. This on-device processing generates up to 13MP versions of your photos, giving you a more accurate preview of your final image.
Let’s process your first photo. Tap the processing icon 
and the L16 will do the heavy lifting. When the progress bar is complete, your photo will be updated with the higher quality version.
Pro tip: You can pinch or double tap a photo to zoom in and see the fine details.

If you’re ready to transfer photos to your computer, continue to section three for a quick tutorial on using Lumen.
If you haven’t already, click the button below to download Lumen.
Once the download is complete, open the downloaded file and Lumen will begin installing automatically.
Start by connecting your L16 to your computer with the Light USB-C cable.
Open Lumen and click "transfer from L16" in the top right corner to open the transfer dialog.
Click the transfer icon in the top right corner to choose where to transfer your photos.
Click "import" to begin transferring your photos.
Now that you’ve transferred your photos, let’s try processing one.
From the gallery, double-click a photo to open in full-screen mode. A progress bar will appear below. When the processing is complete, you’ll see a preview of your final image.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to open each and every photo to process them. Full processing happens whenever you export your photos.
With a photo opened in full-screen mode, locate the depth effect slider (given in aperture values, or f-numbers).
Let’s try it: Add some depth by dragging the slider to the right. As you increase depth, the area around your focal point will appear more blurry.
Exporting photos from Lumen writes a new file type (jpg, dng, or both) and simultaneously processes your photos with Light’s algorithms.
Let’s try it: Click the export icon 
in the bottom right corner. A box will appear that asks you to choose a file type and size. Then click the blue export button.
Now you know how to capture, process, and export photos with Light.
