Prior to Light, Dave was CEO of Vlingo, the first natural language speech recognition service for mobile phones. Vlingo provided speech recognition for the first Siri app and powered Samsung's S-Voice product. Nuance Communications acquired Vlingo in 2012. He previously held leadership roles at Nokia, Sprint PCS, and Geoworks. He began his career in the US Marine Corps and holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
Rajiv is the cofounder and CTO of Light Labs, a company dedicated to multi-view computational imaging and it’s application to depth perception. From February 2006 to February 2011 he was SVP of Technology at Qualcomm Inc. (Nasdaq: QCOM). In February 2000 he founded Flarion Technologies and was the CTO until it was acquired by Qualcomm in January of 2006. Flarion was the first to develop OFDMA based all-IP mobile broadband technology which became the basis of LTE 4G international wireless standard. With more than a two billion 4G devices already in use and that number growing rapidly, this technology has had a significant impact on all of humanity. Before launching Flarion Rajiv had been with Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories since 1992 when he joined the prestigious Mathematical Sciences Research Center. In 1997, he became head of Bell Labs' Digital Communications Research Department in the Wireless Research Center.
Rajiv has a very broad background that spans wireless communication networks, data transmission, information theory, VLSI design and architecture, analog mixed-signal and RF circuit design, high-speed AD/DA data converters, speech image & video processing/compression and optics.
Rajiv received his Ph.D. and Master's degrees from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, all in electrical engineering. His thesis also contributed to V.34, the ITU voice-band modem international standard. He has coauthored the book "OFDMA Mobile Broadband Communications: A Systems Approach" with Dr. Junyi Li and Dr. Xinzhou Wu. He has 400 issued patents and more than 400 pending. Rajiv has won numerous industry awards. He was inducted to the Innovations Hall of Fame, University of Maryland, College Park, in 2006. In 2007 he received the IIT Delhi Distinguished Alumni Award and in 2013 the Distinguished Alumni Award from the EE Department, University of Maryland. He was awarded the IEEE Industrial Innovation Award in 2013. He received the 2018 Eduard Rhein Technology Award for pioneering work on fourth generation wireless systems. He has been awarded the IEEE 2020 Alexander Graham Bell Medal for contributions to cellular wireless data systems. Rajiv is a fellow of the IEEE and a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
Prashant serves as Light's Chief Product Officer responsible for both product & business development initiatives. He has previously led the design & delivery of the company’s first multi-camera ASIC, hardware & software development teams, as well as partner engineering.
Prior to Light, Prashant was VP of Applications & Services at DTS, Inc. where he oversaw the delivery of hardware-optimized audio signal processing technologies for automotive, consumer, and professional licensees. He has previously held R&D leadership roles at Motorola delivering end-to-end solutions targeting enterprise, public safety, and consumer markets. Prashant received a B.S. in Computer Science and a M.S. in Product Development both from Northwestern University.
Tom is Chief Financial Officer of Light. In his role as CFO, Tom is responsible for Light's finance, accounting and administrative operations, legal, human resources and investor relations. He brings to the company over thirty years of extensive financial and operations experience from various high technology software and services companies.
Chris has been a leader in enterprise sales and marketing for advanced technologies for 20 years. Most recently he was EVP Global Sales & Marketing at EyeVerify (acquired by Alibaba Group) and before that EVP Sales & Marketing at Vlingo (acquired by Nuance). He’s closed six and seven figure deals with over 200 major companies including Honda, GM, Apple, Google, Qualcomm and Microsoft.
Sumit has worked in the imaging space for much of his career, having worked at GoPro, Apple and Foveon. Prior to joining Light, he was the VP of Software Engineering at Tetravue, a company developing a high definition flash LiDAR. At Light, he leads the Computational Imaging and Camera Systems teams. Sumit holds Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Computer Science from Dartmouth College.
Prior to Light, Harish was co-founder and VP Cloud Operations at Cloudleaf, Inc., an Industrial IoT company. For the last 25 years, Harish has held leadership roles in embedded, mobile, IoT and edge to cloud computing in companies such as Motorola, Zaplet and Tandem. He holds a MS Computer Engineering from Penn State and dual B.S degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering.
Before seeing the Light, Mazhar was with Qualcomm for twelve years where he led world-wide teams developing wireless modems. He also held leadership and technical roles at Conexant, Globespan and Lucent Technologies focusing on network processors, wire-line and cellular modems. Mazhar received his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 1994 and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University in 1992.
Miki has been a program manager for the last 18 years, leading engineering development, business implementation, and process optimization in various technical industries including mobile device, stock analysis and trading software, and Lidar sensors. In her role as Manager of Technical Program Management at Light, she is responsible for managing program stakeholder communications, schedule, change control, risk management, cost monitoring and engineering operations.
As Light's Director of Marketing, Rob Bajohr is responsible for linking the innovations of the company’s product and engineering teams to customers. Rob oversees Light’s marketing efforts, including market research, digital marketing, creative development, agency management, media, and employee communications.
Before joining Light, Rob was an award-winning Creative Director who solved business challenges for clients like American Express, Dodge, and Toshiba. He received his BFA in Design from the School of Visual Arts. When not glued to his laptop, Rob loves exploring California’s golden coast with his family.
